QUDS, April 12 (TPA) –Zionist Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir on Sunday morning stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound accompanied by a group of colonists, under heavy protection from Israeli occupation forces.
During the incursion, the dozens of Zionist settlers led by Ben-Gvirperformed Talmudic prayers inside the courtyards of the mosque in a provocative act aimed at imposing a new reality at the site and consolidating temporal and spatial division of the holy site.
This marks the first time Ben-Gvir has entered Al-Aqsa Mosque since its gates were reopened following a 40-day closure imposed by Israeli occupation authorities, and his second incursion within a matter of days.
Ben-Gvir’s move comes amid ongoing Israeli efforts to enforce a spatial and temporal division of the Al-Aqsa compound, alongside tightened restrictions on Palestinian worshippers seeking access to the Mosque.
The latest incursion also coincides with escalating calls from settler groups to intensify incursions into the site. It forms part of a broader pattern, with Ben-Gvir having entered the compound approximately 14 times since assuming office in 2023, in what critics describe as an escalating policy toward the mosque.
