OCCUPIED QUDS, April 09 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation has approved a plan to establish 34 new settlements in the West Bank.
The decision sparked warnings within the military establishment regarding the decision’s repercussions on the occupation army’s readiness and manpower shortages, amid expanding security missions and mounting field pressures.
The newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed that the government approved the plan during a cabinet meeting held about two weeks ago. The move was described as “dramatic” and was carried out away from official announcements at the time.
The newspaper indicated that the decision was part of an expanded list of settlement plans, at a time when the military establishment was expressing reservations regarding the ability to implement these expansions on the ground.
For his part, the Head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Moayad Shaaban, warned on Thursday that “Israel’s” decision to establish 34 new settlements serves the policies of annexing the occupied West Bank and undermines the chances of establishing a contiguous Palestinian state.
The head of the government body stated in a press release that the decision by the Israeli Security Cabinet includes the establishment of 34 new settlement outposts.
