Hezbollah targets Israeli Merkava tank, air defense system in southern Lebanon

BEIRUT, March 31 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, Hezbollah, said it conducted multiple operations early Saturday, firing rockets and artillery at Israeli military positions and troop gatherings along the border.

In a series of statements released on March 31, 2026, the group detailed four consecutive strikes carried out in defense of Lebanese territory and its people, amidst the ongoing Israeli aggression against the country.

The operations unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday as follows:

At 23:00 yesterday, Monday, the Islamic Resistance fighters targeted a “Merkava” tank on the road between the towns of Al-Qantara and Al-Taybeh in southern Lebanon with a guided missile.

It was seen burning, which necessitated the arrival of a force to evacuate the casualties and tow the tank under heavy smoke cover, coinciding with shelling using phosphorus shells.

At 12:30 AM on Tuesday, 31/03/2026, the Islamic Resistance fighters targeted a military checkpoint in the “Misgav Am” settlement with a swarm of attack drones.

At 03:00 on Tuesday, the Islamic Resistance fighters targeted the air defense system in the “Ma’alot Tarshiha” settlement with a swarm of attack drones.
