ISLAMABAD, March 26 (YPA) – Fresh clashes broke out along the Afghan-Pakistani border after the Eid al-Fitr ceasefire ended, leaving several casualties in eastern Afghanistan.
Authorities in Kunar province said Pakistani shelling killed three civilians. Afghan forces responded, claiming to have destroyed three military posts and killed one soldier, though these reports could not be independently verified. Pakistan accused Afghan forces of initiating attacks on multiple sites.
The border region has seen rising tensions in recent months following Pakistani airstrikes that Kabul says targeted a hospital, killing hundreds, while Islamabad asserts they struck an ammunition depot. The United Nations reports that at least 76 Afghan civilians have died since February 26, excluding the hospital casualties.
