Agriculture ministry seizes smuggled pesticides
SANAA, Aug. 4 (YPA) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation on Saturday seized a quantity of smuggled and contraband pesticides on board of four cars and a transport truck in Sanaa province.
According to the ministry, these quantities were entered to the country in a manner contrary to the law, some of them fake and expired pesticides, confirming that it has been careful to send these quantities to the competent prosecution to take strict measures against violators and smugglers.
In a statement obtained by Yemen Press Agency, the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Ghazi Ahmed Ali Mohsen, said the smuggling of pesticides is a serious phenomenon that threatens the life of the society, which calls for concerted efforts of all to confront and reduce it.
Mohsen stressed that the ministry will not be negligent in taking strict measures against smugglers and violators in accordance with the law, calling on all concerned parties to work together to reduce the smuggling of pesticides into the country.
Mohsen pointed out that the smuggling of pesticides are important and serious issues that directly affect the fields of food security.
