GAZA, March 15 (YPA) – Eight Palestinian police personnel were killed on Sunday after an Israeli occupation’s airstrike targeted their vehicle at the entrance to the town of Al-Zawayda in the central Gaza Strip.
Palestine’s Ministry of Health said in a statement that the martyred and the wounded were taken to hospitals in the central province following the strike on a police vehicle in the area.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior and National Security confirmed that the director of the intervention police in the Central Province, Iyad Abu Youssef, was among those killed.
He was martyred alongside seven police officers and personnel when their vehicle was hit on Salah al-Din Street near the entrance to Al-Zawayda.
Local sources said Israeli aircraft carried out the strike on the police vehicle as it approached the town, killing eight of its occupants and injuring several others.
In a separate incident earlier Sunday, four civilians — including a father, mother, and their son — were killed in an Israeli shelling that struck the Al-Sawarha area of the Nuseirat Camp.
Medical sources identified the victims as Kamel Ayyash, his wife Halima Ayyash, and their son Ahmed Kamel Ayyash, along with a child from a neighboring family.
Separately, the Civil Defense in Gaza announced the death of Wafi Talal Ibrahim Al‑Desouki, who succumbed to injuries he sustained during an earlier attack on January 30 in the city of Khan Younis.
