Hebrew INSS…’Yemen’s military arsenal is nightmare threatening Israeli security’

SANAA, March 10 (YPA) – Yemen’s armed forces in Sanaa have evolved from a local player into a “regional power” posing a threat to Israeli security, according to a report made by the Israeli Institute for National Security Studies (INSS).

The report highlighted Yemen’s growing military capabilities, including ballistic and winged missiles and drones, which could reshape dynamics in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, challenging Israeli national security and Western interests in 2026.

According to the INSS, Yemeni forces, identified as the “Houthis,” have coordinated operations with the axis of resistance and leveraged their strategic position at the Bab al-Mandeb Strait as a tool of political and military pressure.

“Their enhanced missile and drone capabilities enable them to bypass conventional air defenses and target critical infrastructure deep inside Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, making Yemen an active southern front comparable in threat to Hezbollah in the north,” the report added.

It clarified that US and Israeli airstrikes over the past year have not deterred the Sanaa’s military capabilities; instead, they may have reinforced the group’s legitimacy as a defender against external aggression among the Yemeni population.
