Explosion targets US embassy in Norway

OSLO, March. 09 (YPA) – Norwegian police said the U.S. Embassy in Oslo was hit by an explosion early Sunday morning, causing minor damage but no injuries. They indicated it may have been motivated by “terrorism,” but stressed that other motives were also being investigated.

Witnesses reported hearing a candle explosion from the embassy compound in west Oslo around 1 a.m. local time, and smoke was seen rising from the compound.

Oslo police said the explosion occurred at the entrance to the consular section, and bomb disposal teams were subsequently deployed.

Later, police said the explosion may be related to the current security situation, but no suspects have yet been identified.
