TEHRAN, March 04 (YPA) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran, announced that its naval forces had carried out a successful missile operation targeting a strategic American destroyer in the Indian Ocean.
The IRGC said in a statement early on Wednesday that in continuation of Operation True Promise 4, missiles were launched at a strategic US asset in the Indian Ocean.
A US destroyer that was refueling from a An American tanker ship in the Indian Ocean, some 650 kilometers off Iranian southern coasts, was hit by Qadr-360 and Talaeiyeh Missiles of the IRGC Navy, the statement said.
According to intelligence reports, there was extensive fire on the decks of the two vessels, sending plumes of smoke into the ocean sky.
The operation comes amid peak regional tensions, with Iranian armed forces framing it as a clear warning that any hostile action against the country’s sovereignty would trigger a decisive response beyond its borders.
Officials said the move signals that US military presence in the Indian Ocean is within range of Iran’s missile capabilities.
A military source stated that the reported use of “Qadr-360 and Talaeiyeh missiles missiles demonstrates what Tehran describes as significant advances in its domestic defense industry, including the ability to penetrate advanced air defense systems at sea.
