Supreme Political Council condemns US-Israeli aggression against Iran
SANAA, Feb. 28 (YPA) -The Supreme Political Council (SPC) has condemned on Saturday the American-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, warning that the attack aims to dismantle deterrence capabilities as a prelude to targeting other nations in the region.
In an official statement, the SPC characterized the blatant aggression as a “major crime meeting all legal criteria” and a “flagrant violation of the sovereignty of an independent state.”
The council described the action as an “egregious departure from international laws and charters,” asserting that it exposes the true nature of the United States and the Israeli entity as “aggressive powers that respect neither laws nor human values.”
The council expressed its “complete and unwavering solidarity” with the Islamic Republic of Iran—its leadership, government, and people—affirming Iran’s legitimate right to defend its sovereignty, security, and independent decision-making.
The SPC held the United States and the Israeli entity fully responsible for the repercussions of this “dangerous escalation” and its potential consequences for regional security and stability.
According to the statement, the targeting of Iran stems from, its principled stance and Islamic identity, its independent choice and refusal to submit to American and Zionist hegemony, its steadfast position supporting just causes of the nation, foremost among them the Palestinian cause, and its clear support for resistance forces confronting occupation
The council characterized the attack as an “advanced step within an American-Israeli project” aimed at subjugating the region and enabling the Israeli entity to impose its hegemony.
The statement emphasized that the aggression is “not directed against Iran alone” but constitutes a prelude to a broader scheme to “reshape the region and strip it of its elements of strength” by targeting one of the most significant strategic obstacles to Zionist expansion.
The SPC cautioned that American-Israeli escalation would not achieve security for the Israeli entity and that expanding the circle of targeting would only broaden the confrontation and intensify the path of resistance.
It asserted that the peoples of the region “will not accept the imposition of hegemony equations by force.”
The council specifically warned regional countries against treating this aggression as a matter distant from their concerns, stressing that “targeting Iran aims to break the deterrence equation as a prelude to targeting everyone.”
It declared that “any silence or betting on American protection is a losing bet” that would drag the region into further tension and chaos while granting the Israeli entity broader opportunities to implement its schemes.
The SPC called upon the peoples of the nation, its free forces, scholars, and elites to adopt a “clear and responsible position” against this American-Israeli aggression, to thwart its objectives, and to strengthen unity in facing the common threat endangering the nation’s present and future.
The council also urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to convene and discuss this “dangerous aggression” against the region.
