ADEN, Feb. 28 (YPA) – Massive Saudi military reinforcements arrived in Aden on Friday, following the dissolution of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council last month, amid an atmosphere charged with anticipation and simmering tension.
Field sources confirmed that the reinforcements included dozens of modern armored vehicles that entered the city via the coastal road under heavy guard and unprecedented security measures that paralyzed traffic to secure the passage of the “strike force” to its designated camps.
They explained that these forces deployed to a number of strategic and vital locations within the city, whereas these movements are part of a swift security plan aimed at preventing any attempts at demonstrations or unrest by elements loyal to the Transitional Council.
The sources indicated that Saudi Arabia seeks to consolidate the influence of the head of the Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, after the dissolution of the Transitional Council and the flight of its president, Aidarus al-Zubaidi, to an unknown location.
The Saudi reinforcements are intended to raise readiness in anticipation of any explosion resulting from the current political tension in Aden and the rest of the southern governorates, the sources added.
