Saudi warship approaches coast of Aden amid rising tensions with STC

ADEN, Feb. 23 (YPA) – A Saudi warship approached the coast of Aden in southern Yemen amid rising tensions with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), Saudi sources familiar with the matter reported.

The vessel is positioned a few miles off the coast of Crater district in Aden’s Seera area.

Sources said the warship is tasked with protecting the residence of Saudi forces advisor Falah Al-Shahrani and monitoring any STC naval movements toward Maashiq Palace, where Prime Minister Shaya Al-Zindani’s government is based.

The ship is also prepared to evacuate officials if necessary.

The warship is reportedly coordinated with unmanned reconnaissance aircraft conducting continuous surveillance over Aden, tracking any potential attempts by the UAE to smuggle weapons by sea to the STC.
