Saudi Arabia moves to permanently end STC in Aden

ADEN, Feb. 23 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia, through the Presidential Leadership Council headed by Rashad Al-Alimi, has approved a strict security plan aimed at ending unrest in Aden, in a move seen as a strong step against the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).

The Saudi-backed measures are intended to halt attempts to undermine the Saudi-backed government and prevent it from operating from within Aden.

The Saudi-backed council issued a strongly worded statement ordering a comprehensive investigation into the recent unrest, including an attempt to storm Al-Maashiq Palace.

The council vowed to pursue all those involved, including “instigators and financiers,” in a reference to STC leaders accused of pushing protesters toward confrontation in order to embarrass the government.

In a notable development on the ground, the Al-Amaliqa Brigades led by Hamdi Shukri and the “Dera Al-Watan” Forces began carrying out tasks that included closing offices affiliated with the STC and pursuing what authorities described as destabilizing elements.

Sources said the approved plan aims to dismantle the influence of armed groups accused of imposing a fait accompli policy, empower forces loyal to Saudi Arabia to restore order, and end the STC’s use of street pressure to evade political obligations.

STC leaders are reportedly in a state of confusion and concern after losing control on the ground amid the advance of Saudi-backed forces.
