OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Feb. 22 (YPA) – Hebrew media reported, on Sunday, that the Israeli occupation government informed the United States of its refusal to provide any funding for the operation of the “Peace Council” headed by US President Donald Trump.
Member of the political security cabinet and Minister of the occupation government, Ze’ev Elkin, confirmed this position in a radio interview, saying: “We will not provide money to the Peace Council, there is no reason for that. We were attacked, and there is no reason to fund the reconstruction of Gaza,” in a justification that places the cost of the destruction resulting from the aggression on the victim.
This move reflects an explicit disavowal of any financial commitment towards the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip or the funding of the force emanating from the council.
According to what was reported by the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation via Reshet Bet radio, the countries that are members of the council were asked to contribute to its operating expenses, and countries such as Qatar and the United Arab Emirates announced their readiness to provide more than one billion dollars each.
In addition, Trump also announced that the council members have raised about five billion dollars so far.
