Israeli airstrikes, demolitions target villages, towns in southern Lebanon

BEIRUT, Feb. 19 (YPA) – Israeli occupation warplanes carried out airstrikes last night on several locations, alongside field demolitions, in villages and towns in southern Lebanon, which continues to face ongoing Israeli attacks despite a ceasefire agreement.

Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that Israeli aircraft struck the area of Tebna, near Tuffahata in the Sidon district in southern Lebanon.

The occupation forces also conducted a limited incursion into Lebanese territory, followed by an explosion on the southern outskirts of the town of Yaroun in the Bint Jbeil district.

Earlier on Wednesday evening, the occupation forces had blown up a house in the border town of Yaroun that had previously been damaged in earlier strikes, causing further destruction.

In a statement, the Israeli occupation military claimed its forces had targeted “infrastructure” belonging to Hezbollah in several areas across southern Lebanon during overnight operations.

The oocuption alleged that the targets included weapons storage facilities, rocket launch sites, and military positions used by Hezbollah to plan attacks against Israeli forces and the state of “Israel”.

According to the same statement, Israeli forces signaled their intention to “continue operations,” claiming that the presence of such infrastructure constitutes a violation of the existing understandings between Tel Aviv and Lebanon.

Lebanon has been subjected to Israeli attacks since October 2023, which continued until September 2024, resulting in more than 4,000 victims and 17,000 injuries, in addition to over 4,500 reported violations of the ceasefire.

Israeli breaches of the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah, which came into effect on November 27, 2024, have continued, leading to hundreds of additional casualties since then.
