ADEN, Feb. 18 (YPA) – Prime Minister in the Saudi-backed government, Shaya Al-Zindani, accompanied by several ministers, arrived in the city of Aden on Wednesday.
The move is being described by media outlets as an “emergency rescue mission” aimed at addressing the economic collapse and escalating public unrest.
The return coincides with unprecedented security tensions and armed protests by elements affiliated with the dissolved UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) demanding months of unpaid salaries.
Observers view the move as being backed by Saudi Arabia to curb the influence of UAE-aligned factions, especially following the recent appointment of Mahmoud al-Subaihi to the Presidential Leadership Council.
These developments follow public threats issued by “Southern Resistance” leaders, who have warned high-ranking military officials to vacate the city immediately.
This return comes as residents struggle with a severe deterioration in basic services and prolonged salary delays, amid growing fears of a military escalation between rival factions.
