Arab Parliament: Declaring West Bank lands as “state property” is aggressive annexation and flagrant violation of international law
CAIRO, Feb. 16 (YPA) -The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Al-Yamahi, condemned the Israeli occupation government’s decision to convert areas of the West Bank into so-called “state property,” stressing that the move constitutes a clear declaration of the start of implementing a de facto annexation plan of Palestinian land and a consolidation of colonial settlement policies, in blatant defiance of international law and the will of the international community.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Al-Yamahi emphasized that this aggressive measure represents a dangerous escalation that threatens security and stability in the region, undermines any opportunity to achieve a just and comprehensive peace, and constitutes a flagrant violation of international legitimacy resolutions, foremost among them UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which affirmed the illegality of settlement activity in all Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.
He explained that designating land as “state property” under occupation authority is a false legal cover for the seizure of Palestinian land, contradicting international law, the United Nations Charter, and the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice regarding the illegality of the occupation and its associated unilateral measures.
Al-Yamahi called on the international community, the United Nations, and the Security Council to assume their legal and moral responsibilities by taking concrete steps to immediately halt these measures and impose real accountability on the occupation authorities, warning that continued impunity only fuels further escalation and violations.
He affirmed that the Palestinian people will remain the rightful owners of their land, and that all attempts to impose Israeli sovereignty over any part of the occupied Palestinian territory are null and void under international law.
