Young man killed in Nazareth, inside 1948 territories

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Feb. 15 (YPA) – Abed Masharqa, 18,  was shot dead overnight in the Bilal neighborhood of Nazareth, inside the 1948 territories.

With Masharqa’s killing, the number of victims of violent crime in the Palestinian community within the 1948 territories since the beginning of the year has risen to 44.

The Palestinian community inside the 1948 territories has been holding daily protests against the surge in crime and what activists describe as the complicity of Israeli authorities and police.

The protests began with a general strike in Sakhnin, followed by similar actions in other Arab towns.

Two nationwide demonstrations were later held in Sakhnin and Tel Aviv, along with a vehicle convoy that set off from Arab towns and headed toward Jerusalem.

Additional rallies and protests have also taken place across various towns and at major junctions.

In 2025, a record 252 Arabs were killed in violent crimes, amid accusations that Israeli police have failed to effectively combat organized crime and provide safety and security for Arab citizens.
