Decisive round of negotiations to launch between Iran, US

WASHINGTON, Feb. 14 (YPA) – Axios reports that the United States and Iran are set to hold a pivotal round of nuclear negotiations in Geneva next Tuesday.

Sources familiar with the matter said the U.S. delegation would feature President Trump’s senior adviser Jared Kushner and White House envoy Steve Witkoff.

A U.S. official noted that Witkoff spoke with Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi earlier this week, delivering several letters on the nuclear talks for relay to Iran.

Iran’s team is expected to be led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, with Omani Foreign Minister Al-Busaidi mediating.

Al-Busaidi prepared a document from his call with Witkoff and handed it to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani during his visit to Muscat last Tuesday.

Earlier, President Trump described the negotiations as a “difficult” path to a nuclear deal. He emphasized sending a “huge aircraft carrier group” to the region and warned, “Sometimes it is necessary to be afraid,” adding that Iran would face a “very difficult situation” without a fair agreement.
