Hamas: The brutal abuse against Palestinian prisoners in Ofer prison constitutes a new war crime

GAZA, Feb. 14 (YPA) -Hamas on Saturday denounced footage released by Israeli authorities showing the brutal abuse against Palestinian prisoners in the Ofer prison, under the supervision of the extremist criminal Ben-Gvir.

In a statement, Hamas said that this act constitutes a new war crime and a blatant challenge to international humanitarian laws concerning prisoners.

“The international silence towards the crimes against our heroic prisoners, along with the passing of a death penalty law against them, encourages the fascist occupation to continue its brutal practices inside prisons, as an extension of the genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people,” the statement read.

It added, “What our heroic prisoners are subjected to of physical and psychological torture places the international community, with all its institutions and governments, before its humanitarian, ethical, and legal responsibilities to curb the occupation and stop its crimes inside prisons”.

Hamas called for an urgent action at all levels to protect the Palestinian prisoners, pursue the occupation, and hold it accountable for its crimes against the Palestinian people.

It concluded by saying, “The prisoners are a trust upon our shoulders, and we will not abandon their just cause. Our Palestinian people, everywhere, will remain loyal to them until they reclaim their freedom.”
