HADRAMOUT, Feb. 09 (YPA) – Amidst escalating tensions in Hadramout province, Saudi-backed forces launched a series of overnight raids and arrests across the city of Sayoun.
According to local sources, the campaign—carried out by the “Dera Al-Watan” forces—comes as a direct response to recent protests organized by supporters of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC). These demonstrations saw a significant uptick in anti-Saudi sentiment, culminating in the symbolic burning of portraits of King Salman and the Crown Prince.
The incident signals a volatile new phase of escalation between rival factions in the eastern province.
The sources further confirmed that dozens of detainees have been transported to detention centers, as security operations continue amidst an atmosphere of heightened tension and uncertainty throughout the city.
