Palestinian civilian killed by Zionist forces in Gaza amid ongoing escalation

GAZA, Feb. 09 (YPA) – A Palestinian civilian was shot dead by Israeli occupation forces on Sunday evening in the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, amid ongoing attacks on residential areas across the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian sources reported that Israeli occupation military vehicles opened fire heavily toward homes and tents in Zeitoun, resulting in the death of 43-year-old Wael Salim Salmi.

The sources added that Israeli artillery also struck the western areas of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, while naval forces opened fire off the coast of Khan Younis in the south.

Salmi’s death brings the toll since the ceasefire agreement on October 11 to 581, with 1,544 wounded and 717 bodies recovered.
