MUSCAT, Feb. 06 (YPA) – Indirect talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States began on Friday in Muscat, mediated by the Sultanate of Oman.
According to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, the discussions are focused on the nuclear file and are being conducted through Omani mediation in the Omani capital.
Citing informed sources, the agency reported that the agenda of the talks is limited to issues related to Iran’s nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions.
Tehran has repeatedly stressed that its participation in these negotiations aims to safeguard the Iranian people’s legitimate rights to the peaceful use of nuclear energy, while also assessing the seriousness and good faith of the other side.
Iran has also clarified those issues outside the nuclear framework — including defense or regional matters — are not part of the Muscat talks.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Muscat early Friday at the head of a diplomatic delegation to take part in the indirect nuclear discussions with the US delegation.
