Leaked document reveals Saudi-US coordination on Yemen’s Mayyun Island

SANAA, Feb. 03 (YPA) -A leaked official intelligence document issued by the so-called Coast Guard affiliated with Saudi-led coalition, revealing extensive US military activity on Yemen’s strategic Mayyun Island since 2022.

The document, published by local media, stated that the US military movements on the island have been carried out under direct Saudi coordination, including joint management of a newly constructed military runway, in a move that is a violation of Yemeni sovereignty and part of Washington’s agenda to militarize Bab al-Mandab and regional maritime routes.

The document detailed the landing of two US V-22 Osprey aircraft on Mayyun Island, followed by the immediate deployment of American troops around the runway to assess the operational readiness of military facilities established by the US-Saudi aggression.

It also exposed Saudi efforts to mislead mercenary factions by denying prior knowledge of the US landing.

At the same time, US communications confirmed that the operation was conducted under the supervision and coordination of Saudi forces stationed on the island and responsible for managing runway operations.

The document further indicated that Saudi presence on Yemeni islands serves as cover for American, British, and Zionist ambitions, intending to transform strategic Red Sea locations into closed military bases operated by foreign officers.

This scandal exposes the extent to which local factions funded by Saudi Arabia are allegedly beholden to the United States and “Israel”, facilitating the movement of their forces across the Red Sea and the Yemeni islands.

The document presents further evidence supporting warnings issued by Sanaa forces about foreign threats to international navigation originating from newly established bases on Mayyun Island and Socotra in recent years.

The reported use of advanced US “Osprey” aircraft is described as revealing hostile intentions toward Yemen and countries along the Red Sea coast, with operations centered around the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
