GAZA, Jan. 24 (YPA) – Hamas senior member, Taysir Suleiman stated that the movement’s stance on the so-called “Peace Council” is contingent upon its ability to achieve tangible results on the ground.
Suleiman emphasized that the true measure of success lies in ending the aggression and lifting the siege, rather than media headlines.
He asserted that the top priority remains stabilizing the ceasefire, opening border crossings, and delivering aid to Gaza. He noted that the omission of Gaza from the Council’s charter raises legitimate concerns regarding its effectiveness.
Suleiman revealed that Israeli occupation forces have committed over 2,500 violations since the ceasefire announcement, resulting in approximately 500 deaths. He stressed that curbing these violations is the ultimate test for any international effort.
He underscored that resistance is a legitimate right to defend the Palestinian people, noting that the ceasefire resulted from steadfastness on the battlefield, not political concessions.
Suleiman concluded that Hamas’s final position will be determined in the coming days, based on the implementation of the second phase of the agreement and whether “Israel” ceases its obstruction of reconstruction efforts and civil administration in the Strip.
