OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Jan. 19 (YPA) – The Palestinian Asra Media Office reported that 40 Palestinian journalists, including both males and females, are currently being held in Israeli prisons.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Office said that two of those journalists, Nidal al-Wahidi and Haitham Abdul Wahid, from the Gaza Strip, remain victims of enforced disappearance, with no information available about their whereabouts.
Since October 7, 2023, the number of arrests and detentions targeting journalists and media workers has reached approximately 220 cases.
The latest arrest occurred early Sunday morning, when Israeli forces detained journalist Farouq Omar Alyat, 44, from the village of Deir Abu Da’if east of Jenin in the northern West Bank. Alyat, a father of three and a former detainee, has been arrested several times before.
