WEST BANK, Jan. 18 (YPA) – Israeli occupation authorities have approved the confiscation of approximately 695 dunams of Palestinian land to establish a new settlement neighborhood linked to the “Karnei Shomron” settlement in the West Bank, with the ultimate goal of transforming it into a major settlement city.
The new project aims to link several settlements and expand the “Gush Dan” security belt, effectively severing the connection between the Salfit and Qalqilya governorates and turning Palestinian communities into isolated “cantons.”
The plan specifically targets attracting thousands of “Haredi” settlers to ensure rapid population expansion in the area.
For his part, Israeli occupation’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich described the move as a “major breakthrough” for consolidating settlement activity, explicitly stating that the objective of this policy is to “kill the idea of a Palestinian state” and prevent any future Palestinian geographic continuity.
