Thousands of protesters demonstrate in Aden against Saudi moves

ADEN, Jan. 10 (YPA) – Thousands of protesters in Aden, on Saturday, protested against Saudi moves, breaking the wall of silence and security restrictions and defying the local authority’s decisions issued yesterday banning gatherings and demonstrations.

The Parade Square witnessed a gathering of thousands of citizens who chanted slogans against Saudi military and political moves in Aden.

Moreover, thousands of protesters from the governorates of Hajjah, Dhalea, and Abyan, in addition to residents of Aden, flocked to the Parade Square in the Khor Maksar district in response to a call from the Southern Transitional Council (STC).

In addition, the participants in the demonstration raised pictures of the head of STC, Aidarus al-Zubaidi, chanting slogans affirming their commitment to their demands.

This popular escalation comes at a time when the highest organizational bodies of STC in the governorates confirmed in separate statements issued yesterday, that the Council remains fully legitimate and politically constituted, in clear defiance of attempts to marginalize or circumvent the Council’s presence on the ground, according to activists affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council.

It is worth noting that the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council announced last Thursday, from the Saudi capital Riyadh, the dissolution of the Transitional Council.
