WASHINGTON, Jan. 03 (YPA) – U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday posted a photo of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro after his alleged arrest by American special forces.
On Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Nicolás Maduro aboard the U.S. ship Iwo Jima.”
The image showed Maduro blindfolded, handcuffed, and wearing earplugs while holding a small bottle of water.
Trump described the operation as a major U.S. intervention in Latin America, the most direct since the 1989 Panama invasion.
He stated that Maduro and his wife were detained and taken out of the country following a broad strike against Venezuela.
Maduro, 63, who succeeded the late Hugo Chávez in 2013, has denied the U.S. allegations concerning drug-related offenses, accusing Washington of seeking control over Venezuela’s vast oil reserves—the largest in the world.
