STC condemns “Saudi aggression”, warns of dangerous military escalation in Southern Yemen

ADEN, Jan. 03 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) issued a strongly-worded statement condemning what it described as “Saudi aggression and a dangerous military war” against the South, emphasizing that the recent escalation threatens the security and stability of the entire region.

The council reported intensive Saudi airstrikes coordinated with a ground offensive by forces affiliated with the “Islah Party,” describing the move as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

The statement stressed that targeting Southern forces undermines a key international partner in counter-terrorism efforts and the protection of global shipping lanes.

The STC affirmed that “the Southern Armed Forces” reserve the “legitimate right to self-defense” to deter any attempts to invade Southern territory or infringe upon its sovereignty.

The council called on the international community to intervene immediately to halt military hostilities and provide protection for civilians, warning against the region sliding into total chaos.
