Saudi Arabia imposes air, sea blockade on UAE-backed factions in southern, eastern Yemen

ADEN, Jan. 02 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia has moved to impose a comprehensive blockade on UAE-aligned factions, coinciding with intensifying battles in Hadramout province, in a significant escalation of field developments in eastern Yemen,

The spokesperson for the “Saudi-led Coalition” forces, Turki al-Malki, announced on Friday that the Royal Saudi Naval Forces have completed their deployment in the Arabian Sea.

While the move was officially framed as an operation to “conduct inspections and combat smuggling,” it is widely viewed as a strategic maneuver to tighten control over the region.

Field information suggests that this deployment aims to enforce a maritime blockade on UAE-backed groups, most notably the Southern Transitional Council (STC).

This follows an air blockade marked by the closure of Aden Airport, effectively cutting off military and logistical supplies to these factions as they engage in ongoing conflicts with Saudi-backed “Dera Al-Watan” forces in Yemen’s eastern provinces.
