MOGADISHU, Dec. 27 (YPA) – The Federal Republic of Somalia has reaffirmed its absolute and non-negotiable commitment to its sovereignty, national unity, and territorial integrity, citing the Provisional Constitution, the United Nations Charter, and the African Union Constitutive Act.
In a strongly worded statement, the Somali government categorically rejected Israel’s recent recognition of the northern region of Somaliland, describing it as a deliberate attack on Somalia’s sovereignty.
The government reiterated its support for Palestinian rights, saying Somalia “firmly rejects occupation, forced displacement, demographic engineering, and settlement expansion.”
It emphasized that Somalia is a single, indivisible sovereign state, and no external actor has the authority to alter its unity or territorial boundaries.
“No external actor has the authority or standing to alter its unity or territorial configuration,” it added, warning that “any declaration, recognition, or arrangement” challenging this status is “null, void, and without any legal or political effect under international law.”
“Somalia will never accept making the Palestinian people stateless,” the statement said.
It also warned against the establishment of foreign military bases that could drag the country into “proxy conflicts or import regional and international hostilities.”
The government stressed that such illegitimate actions threaten regional peace and stability, escalate tensions in the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea, and Gulf of Aden.
The announcement comes amid rising regional tensions and reports of diplomatic and military movements in the Horn of Africa.
Somalia had previously warned against attempts to exploit domestic instability or undermine its sovereignty.
Somaliland maintains a high degree of autonomy but is not internationally recognized as independent from the Federal Republic of Somalia.
