HAVANA, Dec. 22 (YPA) -Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel reaffirmed his country’s full solidarity with Venezuela, strongly condemning what he described as “acts of maritime piracy” carried out by the United States off Venezuela’s coast.
In a recorded address delivered during a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Eurasian Economic Union on Sunday in the Russian city of St. Petersburg, Díaz-Canel said Cuba “reaffirms its solidarity with the Republic of Venezuela” and “strongly condemns the acts of maritime piracy and terrorism practiced by the United States government,” which he said targeted a vessel off the Venezuelan coast, according to Russia Today.
The Cuban president’s remarks came just hours after the United States detained a third oil tanker, Bella 1, off the Venezuelan coast, as part of Washington’s tightened blockade on the Bolivarian Republic.
The actions come after US forces intercepted the supertanker Centuriez on Saturday and the tanker Skipper on December 10, signaling a stepped-up push to limit Venezuelan oil exports.
