American journalist: Eurovision threatened with collapse due to Israel’s participation

SANAA, Dec. 19 (YPA) – American journalist Dave Keating, a specialist in European affairs, warned that the Eurovision Song Contest is facing the risk of collapse, amid the increasing number of countries that have decided to withdraw in protest against allowing Israel to participate in the competition.

Keating explained that the wave of withdrawals is putting the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in an unprecedented crisis, noting that the union may not be able to implement the necessary reforms to ensure the return of the withdrawing countries or contain the growing political and media repercussions associated with the contest.

He added that the continuation of this situation threatens the future of Eurovision as a unifying artistic event, turning it into an arena of political conflict that the organizers are unable to manage or neutralize.
