Venezuela rejects Trump’s threats; vows to defend sovereignty

CARACAS, Dec. 17 (YPA) –  The Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced threats made by US President Donald Trump, stressing that Venezuela will not allow any foreign interference in its internal affairs.

In its statement, the ministry emphasized that Venezuela upholds its right to freedom of navigation and will continue to exercise full sovereignty over all its natural resources.

The statement accused President Trump of attempting to impose an “irrational” naval military blockade with the explicit goal of “stealing the nation’s wealth.”

Describing the threats as a clear intent to “plunder” resources, the ministry called upon the American people and the global community to reject these policies.

Venezuela reaffirmed that its people, standing in a “perfect civic-military union,” are capable of defending their historical rights.

The Ministry declared that the country “will never be a colony of any empire or foreign power” and will remain committed to its unconditional independence.

Today, President Donald Trump ordered a total blockade on the entry and exit of sanctioned oil tankers to and from Venezuela, according to Reuters. Additionally, he designated the Venezuelan regime as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).
