Human rights groups: “Israel” expands ‘settlement pocket’ strategy in Hebron to fragment ‘Palestinian territory and Community’

WEST BANK, Dec. 08 (YPA) – Palestinian and international human rights organizations have warned of a new Israeli plan aimed at increasing the use of the isolated settlement pockets strategy in the Hebron Governorate. This move is considered an extension of settlement expansion projects across the West Bank.

According to the organizations, this strategy involves establishing settlements that are geographically distant from each other on Palestinian land, while linking them via isolated special roads, and surrounding them with checkpoints, industrial zones, and security facilities. Practically, this results in the dismantling of the Palestinian agricultural space and deprives residents of consistent geographical connection between their lands.

The human rights groups confirmed that “Israel” is currently transferring this policy to new areas of Hebron by establishing new, isolated settlements, in addition to expanding existing outposts and projects. This creates a scattered yet securely and administratively interconnected settlement network.

They highlighted that applying this strategy in regions like  Tarqumiyah and vast areas of the West Bank demonstrates that the Israeli objective transcends merely reinforcing the settlement presence. The true aim is to impose complete control over the land and deliberately fragment the Palestinian community into separate, isolated enclaves to simplify control and domination.

The organizations stressed that this approach represents a blatant violation of International Humanitarian Law and the Geneva Conventions

They called  on the international community to intervene to halt the Israeli expansion operations that threaten social structure and destroy opportunities for development and geographical connection between Palestinian villages and cities.
