HADRAMOUT, Dec. 01 (YPA) – The oil company “Petromasila” in the Hadramout governorate, eastern Yemen, announced on Monday the complete halt of production and refining operations in the fields and facilities of Block (14) since last Saturday, attributing the decision to the deteriorating security situation and armed clashes in the governorate.
The company’s statement clarified that the suspension also included production operations in Block (10), leading to the disruption of gas fuel supplies necessary to run the two gas power stations and the gradual shutdown of the Hadramout Valley Gas Power Station (75 MW).
Petromasila affirmed that the decision to halt operations is an adherence to occupational safety regulations and is intended to protect lives and facilities from any potential risks. The company warned that continued security tensions pose a direct threat to the safety of stored oil and gas materials, potentially leading to catastrophic accidents.
This stoppage follows prior warnings from the “Hadramout Tribal Alliance” regarding the consequences of any attack on oil facilities by factions loyal to the UAE, especially after the alliance repelled an attack attempt carried out by these factions recently.
