AMMAN, Nov. 27 (YPA) – Media reports have unveiled a resounding corruption scandal involving the so-called “Presidential Leadership Council” loyal to the Saudi-led coalition after Jordanian authorities at Amman airport detained a senior council official (unnamed) in possession of $10 million in cash, in addition to a check worth $400 million.
Journalist Hamoud Hazza, who revealed the details, explained that Jordanian authorities immediately seized the funds due to the suspicious manner in which they were found.
According to the information, the crisis concluded with urgent interventions from American officials and the Council President Rashad Al-Alimi, resulting in the official’s release and the return of the funds to him.
Observers view the incident as exposing a deeply entrenched corruption system within the council and its government, at a time when Yemenis are suffering from a choking livelihood and economic crisis.
