After refusing to receive 40 children for treatment.. Germany agrees to grant 4 donkeys from Gaza asylum

SANAA, Nov. 27 (YPA) – Germany’s authorities received four donkeys evacuated from the Gaza Strip and transferred to a zoo in the town of Oppenheim, as part of an “Israeli” project called Project Donkey Flights, which aims at transporting a number of animals from the Strip to Europe, according to German newspaper Allgemeine Zeitung.

The newspaper said that the animals were suffering from “hunger and misery”, before starting to improve since their arrival in Germany.

However, the newspaper’s report provoked widespread criticism after it completely ignored the protracted humanitarian crisis that Gaza residents have been living with for more than two years, including the loss of food security, displacement and preventing patients from receiving treatment.

For its part, the Israeli entity responsible for the project said that about 50 donkeys were transferred from Gaza, at a time when the transfer of animals was compared to the decision of the German federal government last September to refuse to receive 20 Palestinian children for treatment, claiming that the situation is complicated, while the transfer of animals faced no significant obstacles.

The report, which was published, sparked a wide interaction on social media platforms, where activists considered that the case embodies a ” blatant double standard of humanity”.

Against the backdrop of the wave of angry comments, the newspaper closed the commenting feature on its digital platforms.
