ABYAN, Nov. 14 (YPA) – Activists on social media shared a new and striking information Friday regarding the recent incident that destroyed a long-distance passenger bus, belonging to “Saqr Al-Hijaz” Transport Company, earlier this month in in Yemen’s southern province of Abyan, which is controlled by UAE-backed factions.
The widely shared video appears to show the bus being struck by gunfire from a 12.7 mm machine gun, hitting the engine and chassis directly, which reportedly caused the fire.
Activists said the footage and images were produced by a technical investigation team tasked with examining the burned bus to determine its true cause, though the official report has yet to be released.
Analysis of the images by activists indicated that the location and pattern of the damage rule out claims of a simple fire or sudden technical malfunction, raising questions about other possible circumstances surrounding the incident
Meanwhile, others argued that the release of this information may be an attempt by the transport company to evade legal and moral responsibility and to avoid paying the compensation owed to the families of the victims who perished in the tragic incident
It is worth noting that the tragic incident occurred in the Al-‘Arqoub, which killed dozens of passengers who were returning home after years of working in Saudi Arabia. The tragedy has deeply shocked Yemeni society, amid growing calls for a full disclosure of the truth, accountability for those responsible, and fair compensation for the victims’ families.
