MARIB, Nov. 12 (YPA) –The Saudi-backed Islah Party ion Marib plans to seize a large area designated for building a residential city for people with disabilities in the city of Marib, and sell it to an investor loyal to the party.
Source familiar with the mater said the land located behind the so-called Special Security Forces camp, which was purchased in the early eighties and allocated by the “Third Military Region” command to build 400 housing units for people with disabilities, is about to be sold to Islah-affiliated businessman Abdul Karim Haider, to establish his investment project in the city center.
It pointed out that the land issue was before the “Marib Court,” where the Islah Party is seeking to seize it for the benefit of its traders and investors.
According to the source, the members of the Party assaulted and expelled the lawyer of the Third Military Region,Waddah Zureiq, from the court’s session, despite the proven ownership documents of the land and its allocation for the establishment of the residential city for people with disabilities.
The source accused Ali Ali Rishan, appointed by Islah Party as head of the “Marib and Jawf Court”, of disposing of the land of the residential city for disabled people through what he described as “brokers”, who are working to obstruct a donor from funding the construction of housing units designated for people with disabilities at a cost exceeding 45 million Saudi riyals.
The reform prioritized its commercial and investment interests at the expense of the disabled, without providing them with suitable housing, leaving the fate of the land and the residential city project for people with disabilities dependent on the actions of the reform in Marib.
