Trump: US is no longer funding Ukraine

WASHINTON, Nov. 11 (YPA) – US President Donald Trump stated that the United States is no longer funding Ukraine for the time being, and that other countries are paying for the weapons sent to Kiev.

The United States is no longer funding Ukraine, but it receives money for arms sales through NATO, US President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House.

“We are no longer spending money. Now we are paid through NATO“, he said.

Previously, Trump—who had repeatedly criticized his predecessor Joe Biden for allocating billions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine—revealed a new plan to supply Kiev with weapons through NATO allies.

He explained that the United States will sell a large shipment of weapons worth billions of dollars to European countries, including missiles, air defense systems, and ammunition. The allies will then deliver these weapons to Ukraine, and later replenish their own stockpiles through new purchases from US companies.

Trump affirmed that the plan has received full approval and will be implemented soon, funded by NATO countries.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal had previously stated that Kiev would need military aid ranging from $12 billion to $20 billion over the next year, as part of a new initiative led by NATO to purchase US weapons for Ukraine.
