Dham tribes hold emergency meeting to confront coalition factions
JAWF, Nov. 07 (YPA) -Tensions have escalated in areas, which are controlled by the Saudi-led coalition forces after the Command of the Sixth Military Region held a meeting described by observers and tribal sources as “controversial,” carrying veiled threats and signaling attempts to impose a new reality on the Dham tribes, following the tribe’s call for a meeting scheduled for Friday afternoon
Tribal sources reported that Major General Haykal Hantaf, Commander of the Sixth Military Region, convened an emergency meeting with all coalition-backed factions.
During the meeting, he called for “raising combat readiness” and “firm responses to any threats” from the Dham tribes, specifically targeting the Bani Nawf clan.
The meeting reportedly sparked outrage and concern among tribal members, who viewed it as an unjustified provocation with implicit threats under the guise of military preparedness, tribal sources said.
According to the sources, the meeting came in response to a statement issued last Wednesday by the elders of the Bani Nawf tribe, calling for a mass gathering on Friday afternoon in Bani Nawf’s meeting square, northeast of Al-Kanayis.
The meeting is expected to include around 11 tribes from the Dham to discuss concerning developments and agree on a unified position.
The same sources warned against any military action by coalition factions inside Dham tribes’ territories emphasizing that any escalation could ignite conflict in the region.
They added that the use of force or provocations against the tribes’ will “would only inflame tensions and drag the area into a conflict with serious consequences,” stressing that land and honor cannot be violated by any party.
Coalition leaders, through their factions in the Sixth Military Region, appear to be using sudden escalations to expand their military influence and assert authority over local tribes by force. In contrast, The Bani Nawf tribe, along with allied Dham tribes, has maintained a firm stance in rejecting any violations of their lands or encroachments on their dignity.
The situation remains tense as attention turns to the outcomes of the expanded tribal meeting, which is expected to outline the tribes’ response to recent violations and military provocations against the Bani Nawf clan.
