UAE-funded camp in Shabwa witnesses turmoil over ‘regional domination’

SHABWA, Nov. 04 (YPA) – Informed sources have revealed a state of intense turmoil and deep resentment prevailing at the so-called “Hanishan” camp, which belongs to the UAE-funded “Support and Defense Brigade” in Ataq city, the center of the Yemeni Shabwa governorate.

The sources reported that military leaders originating from Dhalea  governorate completely control decision-making within the camp. They are reportedly distributing positions, promotions, and financial/in-kind privileges in favor of Dhalea natives, while marginalizing and excluding officers and soldiers from Shabwa.

These regional practices have sparked widespread fury among the Shabwa natives in the camp, who described the situation as a “coup against the principle of competence.” They warned of a “dangerous deviation” and escalating tensions that could lead to an explosion.

The officers and soldiers from Shabwa called on the leadership of the “Ministry of Defense” in the Saudi-led coalition-backed government and the “Presidential Leadership Council” to intervene immediately to halt these regional violations, which threaten to ignite conflicts within the UAE-backed factions.
