Afghanistan earthquake kills 20, injures over 300

KABUL, Nov. 03 (YPA) – At least 20 people were killed and more than 300 injured after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck the city of Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan early Monday morning.

According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), The quake hit at a depth of 28 km, heavily impacting Balkh and Samangan provinces.

In an initial report, Samim Joyenda, a spokesman for the health department in the northern province of Samangan, said that seven people had been confirmed dead and about 150 injured. However, local authorities later updated the toll to at least 20 dead and around 320 injured.
