One killed, several injured in tribal clashes in Shabwa

SHABWA, Oct. 22 (YPA) – Armed clashes erupted on Wednesday in the Nessab district of Shabwa Governorate, which is controlled by factions loyal to the UAE, resulting in one death and several wounded.

A local source explained that the clashes broke out in the old Nessab market between armed men from the Al-Suraime tribe and their relatives over a blood-revenge dispute. The confrontations sparked panic among citizens and resulted in the closure of shops.

The security situation in Shabwa is met with widespread dissatisfaction due to the security chaos and the absence of state authority since 2016, amid accusations that leaders of the UAE-backed factions are fueling tribal conflicts to strengthen their influence.
