Complete power outage in Aden threatens collapse of water, sanitation services

ADEN, Oct. 20 (YPA) – The Local Water and Sanitation Corporation in Aden province issued a shocking warning on Monday of an imminent and complete collapse of water and sanitation services in the city, due to a total power outage.

The corporation explained in a statement that the complete halt of power generation stations, caused by fuel depletion and the inability of the Saudi-led coalition-backed government to provide fuel, has led to a total cessation of water pumping to all areas.

The statement also warned of the inevitable paralysis of sewage pumping stations, which threatens to flood the streets. The corporation noted that the continuation of this situation places direct responsibility on the pro-coalition authorities to secure power and prevent an impending humanitarian and environmental catastrophe in the city of Aden.
