Gunman opens fire outside military HQs in Marib to protest delayed salaries

MARIB, Oct. 20 (YPA) – Heavy gunfire was heard on Sunday in front of the headquarters of the “Third Military Region” in Marib city, which is controlled by Islah Party factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition.

Informed sources reported that an unidentified armed man from the Amran region fired heavily in front of the “Third Military Region” headquarters on Saturday, in protest over the non-payment of salaries since last June.

The guards managed to arrest the gunman, but he was released moments later following a “call” from the commander office, Sagheer bin Aziz, the Chief of Staff of the pro-coalition government’s Ministry of Defence.

The sources noted that the gunman is known for his previous “thuggery” acts and that the incident highlighted the quasi-absolute immunity enjoyed by influential figures.
