GAZA, Oct. 19 (YPA) – Hamas’ spokesperson in Gaza, Hazem Qassem, affirmed that the Movement does not wish to participate in any administrative arrangements related to the governance of the Gaza Strip on the day after the cessation of aggression.
In a statement issued last night, Hazem Qassem said that the governmental bodies in Gaza are continuing their duties because a vacuum is very dangerous, and this will continue until an administrative committee agreed upon by all Palestinian factions is established.
He added, “Hamas has agreed to the formation of a Community Support Committee to assume governance in Gaza. We call for the speedy formation of the Community Support Committee until a Gaza administration committee is formed.”
The official highlighted that discussions are underway with mediators to arrange the entry into the second phase of negotiations, which is considered a complex stage and requires a national consensus.
It is worth noting that Hamas announced reaching an agreement to end the war, which includes the withdrawal of enemy forces from Gaza and a prisoner exchange. However, the movement has called on US President Donald Trump and intermediary countries to ensure that enemy forces fully implement the ceasefire.
