Venezuela files complaint with Security Council against US attacks

CARACAS, Oct. 18 (YPA) – Venezuela has filed a formal complaint with the UN Security Council, demanding that the attacks carried out by the United States off its coast in the Caribbean Sea be condemned and considered illegal attacks that violate national sovereignty.

In a letter addressed to the Security Council by Venezuela’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Samuel Moncada, Caracas accused Washington of “launching attacks on civilian ships sailing in international waters, resulting in the deaths of at least 27 people.”

In his letter, Moncada demanded an investigation to determine “the illegal nature of these attacks.” He also called on the Security Council to issue a statement calling for unconditional respect for the sovereignty, political independence, and territorial integrity of states.
